Oil & Gas Safety Roundtable charter
Hydraulic fracturing has resurrected America’s oil and gas industry, and it is a major reason the Texas economy is the envy of the nation. Along with prosperity, however, has come an increase in on-the-job accidents. In fact, the fatality rate among oil and gas workers is seven times higher than other industries. In 2006, a small group of stakeholders responded by forming the oil and gas safety roundtable. Members set their sights on identifying injury trends and developing best practices that address those trends. Today, the roundtable is a cohesive, focused team of 30 safety professionals representing the business, regulatory, academic and insurance communities. Though shaped by diverse experiences and perspectives, roundtable members are driven by a common goal: to make the Texas oil patch a safer place to work.
The oil and gas safety roundtable saves lives by collaborating with stakeholders to develop and disseminate best safety practices that address common industry hazards.
Every Texas oil and gas worker goes home safely at the end of the day
The oil and gas safety roundtable directs its resources toward helping independent oil and gas producers in Texas protect their employees from workplace injuries. We recognize, however, that other oil-producing states share our vision and face many of the same hurdles in realizing that vision. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with others outside our borders on mutually beneficial endeavors.
- Establish strategic alliances with regulatory agencies, associations and other industry groups working on solutions to similar issues
- Maintain strong roundtable representation from independent oil and gas companies
- Continuously evolve by encouraging knowledgeable stakeholders who have a passion for the issues to join the roundtable
- Leverage technology to deliver engaging, practical educational content that meets our target audience’s needs
